Glass

The 2018 Golden Fine Arts Festival presented the following Glass Artists (in order of appearance):

Steve Knox

Kathi Dougherty

Jack Pine

Linda Backus at backus.linda@gmail.com

Josh Dopp

Gregory Tomb

Steve Knox creates stained glass windows which range in size and shape from fourteen inch circles to free standing pieces over 6'. He employs organic shapes and materials, such as shells, agates, and geodes, to amplify the narrative.
Kathi Dougherty uses fusible glass that is cut, smashed, sifted and designed with to create landscapes, tree-scapes and abstract art. The kiln fired glass can be added to, sandblasted, cold worked and re-fired many times.
Jack Pine has been blowing glass for over 20 years. He studied at the Columbus College of Art and Design before heading out West, where he mastered his technique in Seattle and Denver. His work has been featured in galleries and museums across the country. Now he has returned home to Southern Ohio, where he has opened his  brand new studio and gallery.
Linda Backus creates blown glass vessel forms which have designs of lampworked cane and murrini. The designs are set on a hot plate, picked up on the hot glass bubble and incorporated into the finished piece. For more information, contact Backus at backus.linda@gmail.com
“ Barriers surround us and define us. From our skin the fabric of life to the stone walls around our possessions. The edge or the border is the home of doubt and anxiety. At the threshold there is transformation and change, which our minds either comfortably confront or vigorously repel. I am very interested in duality and the tension or blurring of opposites. At what point does anything change? Where and when does chaos become ordered and ultimately at rest? ” — Josh Dopp
